DC Plane Crash into the Potomac River Live Updates: Donald Trump said that he had been briefed regarding a terrible incident that took place in the disguise of a plane crash; that is when a plane collided with a military helicopter, and it crashes into the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. The moment there was a devastating midair collision between an American Airlines regional jet and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, which resulted in the tragic loss of life. The American Eagle Flight 5342, which was carrying 60 passengers and 4 crew members, collided with the military helicopter carrying 3 soldiers who were on a training mission.
During the press conference, Chief John Donnelly from the fire and emergency services described the operation as “highly complex. “ He stated, “The conditions out there are extremely rough for the first responders. It’s cold. They’re dealing with relatively windy conditions—the wind is hard out on the river.” He noted the difficult working conditions, including eight-foot-deep water, ice fragments, and wind. According to the reports, 18 bodies have been found in the river, and authorities are not certain about survivors. The airport has stopped all operations and planned to open on Thursday morning.
President Trump questioned the air traffic control’s handling of the situation, asking why they did not provide more specific guidance to the helicopter. The comprehensive investigation is being launched by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth informed on X that the Pentagon and Army are investigating the devastating collision between an American Airlines plane and a US Army helicopter with 64 and 3 people on board, respectively. Hegseth said that the investigation by the agencies was initiated immediately after the crash took place in the Potomac River, outside of Washington, DC.
