At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang unveiled the groundbreaking RTX 50 series, a next-generation lineup of gaming graphics processors built on the innovative Blackwell architecture. The series includes four models: RTX 5070, RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5080, and RTX 5090, with prices ranging from $549 to $1,999. These cutting-edge graphics cards represent a significant leap in gaming and AI technology, promising unprecedented performance and visual capabilities for gamers and content creators.
The RTX 50 series introduces revolutionary features that push the boundaries of gaming graphics and AI integration. The flagship RTX 5090 boasts an impressive 92 billion transistors and utilizes TSMC's advanced 4-nanometer chip technology. A standout innovation is DLSS 4 (Deep Learning Super Sampling), which introduces Multi Frame Generation, capable of generating three additional scenes per original game scene. This technology potentially delivers an eightfold improvement over traditional rendering methods, with the RTX 5070 performing comparably to the previous flagship RTX 4090. Additionally, the new GPUs feature advanced cooling systems, including two double flow-through fans and a 3D vapor chamber.
Nvidia has strategically integrated AI technologies into these gaming chips, introducing features like RTX Neural Shaders and RTX Neural Faces. These technologies aim to enhance in-game visual experiences by generating film-quality visuals in real-time and improving character animations. The GPUs are equipped with DisplayPort 2.1b connectors, supporting displays up to 8K and 165Hz2. Huang emphasized the transformative potential of these chips, stating that "GeForce enabled AI to reach the masses, and now AI is coming home to GeForce". The company also promises significant performance improvements, with Huang claiming the new chips deliver performance speeds double that of the previous generation.
The product launch comes at a critical time for Nvidia, which has seen remarkable growth driven by AI processor demand. Prior to the CES keynote, the company's shares closed at a record high of $149.43, with a market capitalization of $3.66 trillion, making it the second-most valuable company globally. The RTX 50 series will be rolled out in stages, with the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 desktop GPUs available from January 30, followed by the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 in February. Laptop variants are expected to be released in March. This strategic release demonstrates Nvidia's commitment to pushing the boundaries of gaming and AI technology, offering consumers unprecedented graphics performance and intelligent rendering capabilities.
