India-China relations have shown signs of improvement following a recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The discussions, held on the sidelines of an international summit, aimed at fostering better diplomatic ties and addressing key bilateral issues. Both leaders acknowledged the importance of working together on multilateral platforms like BRICS, G20, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to address global economic and geopolitical issues.

According to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the meeting between the two leaders was constructive, with both sides emphasizing the need for stability and cooperation. Wang noted that the discussions helped create a foundation for resolving ongoing tensions and enhancing mutual trust. This marks a significant step forward, given the recent challenges in India-China relations, particularly along the disputed border areas.

During the meeting, PM Modi and President Xi reportedly discussed border management, trade relations, and regional security. The two leaders agreed on the importance of maintaining peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and finding diplomatic solutions to existing disputes. Additionally, they explored ways to strengthen economic cooperation, given that China remains one of India’s largest trading partners.

Despite past tensions, both nations recognize the economic benefits of collaboration. India and China have extensive trade ties, with annual bilateral trade crossing $100 billion. Strengthening these ties could provide economic stability for both nations amid global uncertainties. Moreover, the meeting also touched upon global challenges such as climate change, supply chain resilience, and regional security.
