Polish e-commerce giant Allegro plans to significantly expand its parcel locker network in 2025 by adding 2,500 new units across the country. This ambitious initiative reflects Allegro's commitment to enhancing its logistics infrastructure to meet growing consumer demand for faster and more convenient delivery options. The company already operates one of Poland’s largest networks of pick-up points, with 31,000 locations, and aims to further strengthen its position in the market. The new lockers will complement Allegro's existing delivery services, including partnerships with DHL and other providers, ensuring a seamless shopping experience for its customers.
Allegro’s parcel lockers are designed with sustainability in mind, powered by renewable energy and equipped with air quality sensors. The company has also incorporated green features like plant walls to minimize visual and noise pollution, aligning with its broader environmental goals. Marta Mikliszańska, Allegro’s head of public affairs and sustainability, emphasized that these lockers are part of the company’s strategy to integrate eco-friendly solutions into urban spaces. By the end of 2024, Allegro had already installed 1,500 lockers in major cities like Warsaw and Poznań, with plans to expand into smaller towns and rural areas in 2025.
The decision to invest heavily in parcel lockers comes as Allegro faces increasing competition from global players like Amazon and local rival InPost. By offering a robust network of pick-up points and lockers, Allegro aims to differentiate itself through convenience and accessibility. These lockers not only reduce delivery times but also lower last-mile delivery costs, benefiting both merchants and consumers. Additionally, Allegro is diversifying its logistics services with initiatives like Allegro Fulfillment, which allows merchants to ship products directly from Allegro's warehouses near Warsaw.
This expansion aligns with Allegro’s broader growth strategy, which includes international ventures in neighboring markets like the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The company has also partnered with DHL to integrate their delivery services into the Allegro Delivery program, offering customers access to DHL’s extensive network of parcel lockers and pick-up points. With annual revenues exceeding PLN 10 billion ($2.3 billion) as of 2023, Allegro continues to solidify its leadership in Poland’s e-commerce sector while exploring opportunities for sustainable growth both domestically and abroad.
